What is the pixel pitch in LED display?

Pixel pitch is the distance between 2 pixels in LED screen. 1 pixel is the center in 1pc LED. The distance between 2pc LEDs (center point) is the pixel pitch in LED display. Pixel pitch is also referred to as dot pitch. PX (PhX) is the distance between 2pc LEDs is X mm. For example, P5 (Ph5) is the distance between 2pc LEDs (both in horizontal and vertical direction) is 5mm. Since the pixel pitch reflects the distance between two pixels, a smaller pixel pitch means the distance between pixels is shorter, in other words, it means higher pixel density and higher screen resolution.

Why is the pixel pitch so important?

The resolution and the close viewing distance.

These are the most important in LED screen. And pixel pitch determines their performance.

In same LED screen's resolution, small pixel pitch will have small dimension.

For example, 1080P (1920x1080 pixels) resolution. P2 LED screen, the dimension will be 3.84x2.16 m; P3 LED screen, the dimension will be 5.76x3.24 m.

In same LED screen's dimension, small pixel pitch will have big resolution (more pixels).

For example, 1.5x1.5 m screen. P2 LED screen, the resolution will be 750x750 pixels; P3 LED screen, the resolution will be 500x500 pixels.

Each LED display, it has close viewing distance (or minimum viewing distance). It's not like LED TV which we can watch in close distance even less than 1 meter(3.28ft). Watching the LED display in proper distance, you will enjoy natural vivid images or videos. But Less than minimum viewing distance, the image and video quality will be bad. More close viewing, you will be distracted by discerning individual LED.
